Local Search Statistics and Figures

According to research that Yankee Group in Boston published in late 2005, local search engine advertising is already being used by a large proportion of small and medium sized businesses. Amongst businesses with 2-19 employees, 40% ran local search campaigns, amongst those with 20-99 employees, 30% were active in local search advertising. Industry gurus predict that the use of local search advertising will grow significantly this year. Sanjeev Aggarval, a senior analyst with Yankee Group, is quoted as saying: “"Definitely more businesses, particularly service businesses, are using local search. They know people aren't looking in the Yellow Pages."
